The Aquabats Saved the World for Kids – Again

This time they got a little help from PPL MVR

With a mixture of fun, energetic music, and an excited crowd, The Aquabats is an experience to remember. The band did an excellent job in creating a fun environment last Monday night at the Gothic Theatre, doing things like cracking jokes in between songs, throwing giant pizza balloons into the crowd, and even inviting kids onto the stage.

There were more than just kids at the Gothic, however, it seems that The Aquabats have garnered a “larger” crowd as well – both in age and in girth! Whether they were there for their kids or just their own enjoyment, the crowd was predominantly adult. It seems The Aquabats are good at bringing out the little kid in all of us. Adults were full of cheer as they witnessed the kid-like behavior of the band on stage.

The band also incorporated themes from their kids’ TV show that they star in – aptly named “The Aquabats.” It was like watching a play. There were villains and heroes alike on the stage and even a fun fight scene. One of the openers: “The One and Only PPL MVR” also made a cameo during said fight scene in their signature yeti and sasquatch costumes. Needless to say, it was awesome to watch, and it’s no wonder all of their songs end with an exclamation point (and sometimes two!).

The Aquabats are truly professionals at their craft and do a wonderful job at being silly and fun. The kids no doubt had fun, and the little kid inside of the adults came out. Overall this concert was a lively and radical experience.
