Denver indie trio Wildermiss, longtime Denver music scene darlings who are now based in Nashville, came back to Denver’s Bluebird Theater for a triumphant, stellar evening performance last Saturday. Much to the delight of the crowd – full of dedicated fans – the group didn’t hesitate to perform songs from the just-released “Levitate”.
Lead by singer Emma Cole’s gorgeous singing synth bass talent, guitarist Joshua Hester and rhythm ace Caleb Thoemke also rocked out a slew of other hits to what felt like a room full of good friends. A large room full of a lot of friends, to be sure, but the energy was just like that – exciting, but comfortable.
Wildermiss had the audience stomping their feet, smiling, and singing their hearts out
Increasing the intimacy of the gathering, the trio joined the audience for a quick, heart-warming rendition of “Carry your Heart”. The Denver fave (the video features a few sites we might all recognize) had the audience stomping their feet, smiling, and singing their hearts out – such a nice thing to hear and to be in the thick of!
Opening band Hembree – originally from Kansas City, now based out of L.A., joined Wildermiss for a wild rendition of The Beatles’ “Ob La Di,” adding even more delight and excitement to the night, as the whole crowd sang along. Wildermiss gave their faithful hometown followers a full night’s worth of attention, and showed how much they really appreciate them, and the crowd appreciated Wildermiss right back.
