A Musical Manifesto for 2023 – Act 3

December 29, 2023 Off By John Cargile

After you read Act III, make sure you don’t miss Act I, Act II, and Act IV of this Musical Manifesto, and catch the whole playlist below!

The second half of the year and Act 3 of our Musical Manifesto smoothly opens with one of the best songs of the year with LIGHTER by NICO TURNER. What a freaking powerhouse song it is! NewJeans makes fun music like Cool With You which pairs well with the wonderful Psychedelic Switch from Carly Rae Jepsen.  James Blake makes his presence known with Fall Back from his Playing Robots Into Heaven album.

Zhu opens the manifesto up with Changes, and Addison Rae with Charlie XCX tempts us with 2 die 4

Musical Manifesto part III

Zhu opens it all up with Changes, and Addison Rae with Charlie XCX tempts us with 2 die 4, only to see the fuse get lit by Olivia Rodrigo’s bad idea right?. These three songs set off house parties all summer. Immediately Call Me’s drop races the body and mind just as Marlon Hoffstadt and DJ Daddy Trance planned. And the lyrics “All night, call me, Baby, I’m lonely” fits so well after the Rodrigo’s tour de force. Right? yea from the acts let me you and L.A. Rochelle gives the answer.

Bakar’s All Night could be appropriate if you are still enjoying this six-hour Musical Manifesto mix.

Summer heat still burns as Overmono drops Blow Out then TIBASKO follows with Hawt with the request “all you gotta make hot the first time, then you know you got it anytime you want it , babe”. Jungle comes back with Joy Anonymous with the amazing JOY (Back on 74) that looks back but takes us forward.

Musical Manifesto part III

Bakar’s All Night could be appropriate if you are still enjoying this six hour Musical Manifesto mix. It sure hits the mark, just as Romy’s entry of The Sea, which delivers the best love commentary: “My heart burns a thousand degrees”. LST’s song Everything, is “everything to you” if you let it hit you right.

The next two songs are my two favorites linking on this list as the pain “I feel so ordinary, I wanna see heaven tonight” in Mall Grab with Real Lies’s track End Credits followed by Freak Heat Waves with Cindy Lee’s In a Moment Divine call “you leave me breathless in a moment divine”.

Musical Manifesto part III

Brian Eno and Fred again.. collaborate on Cmon to let us soak up the beauty. Maybel brings us back with Long Road Ahead then Jelani Blackman and Biig Piig get us focused with Rise. We will need that as heartaake points us back to the floor with the wigging XTC. The singer Nazzerene steals the show for Tensnake’s Mind Talking, and one of my favorite’s Georgia keeps us up All Night’s lines like “What will we miss if we don’t try?”

Mona Yim and Memphis LK let us know they’ve been Thinkin Of U. Sadly “I bet you never tell them How It Feels” from Barry Can’t Swim gets us thinking, then Bakar’s Right Here, Right Now hammers home “I can’t wait ‘til you’re right here”. Maya Randle let you go takes us out of our heads then DJ HEARTSTRINGS delivers a version of  Ciara’s 1,2 Step so furiously, we care for nothing but the beat.

Musical Manifesto part III

Jam City enlists Empress Of for Wild n Sweet raising both of their strengths. This Act finishes with another brilliant collaboration with Shygirl featuring Erikia de Casier in Crush. “Hey I have a crush on you, mind if I slip inside your head?”

After you read Act III, make sure you don’t miss Act I and Act II of this Musical Manifesto!
