Dom Dolla Makes Red Rocks Swoon

In a most fitting way, Red Rocks kicked off the official 2023 season of live music with a spectacular showing of EDM/House/Beats that will not soon be forgotten. Straight from Melbourne, Australian producer, DJ, and all-around musical phenom Dom Dolla graced the Colorado landscape for two nights of house and EDM revelry in front of a packed mountainside of beautiful, non-stop dancing fans.

Born Domenic Matheson in 1992, the young genius better known as Dom Dolla hit the huge Red Rocks stage blazing on the on his 2nd night and filled the world with his own brand of melodically intense, pop-drenched House Music. The second of two 2 absolutely beautiful nights in the wonder of Colorado’s climate and natural beauty, I was fortunate enough to experience what seemed like an endless river of awesome dance music alongside thousands of ecstatic fans.

The music filled the Mountain air with heavy beats and sensuous melodies, and was accompanied by an unmatchable light show that was only slightly less beautiful than the natural show the sunset over the Colorado plains offered us.

Performing high atop a 12-foot platform amidst lasers, fog, and frenetic colors, Dom Dolla cranked out hits like “Take it,” “Pump the Brakes,” “Rhythm Dust,” and “San Frandisco.” He followed with a ruthless cover of Rüfüs Du Sol‘s “On My Knees,” one of the famous remixes that helped Dom form his own rock ‘n roll history. Needless to say, this had the insatiable Red Rocks crowd screaming with excitement and nearly exploding with each drop. 

The inimitable Dom Dolla gifted one of the most beautiful venues on the planet – and certainly one of the most legendary in North America, with an amazing night of EDM/Dance/House memories and unbelievable jams that will not soon be forgotten. This was a suitable kickoff for Red Rocks and Colorado both, fitting of the season this year’s schedule promises.
