Husband and wife DJ duo WLD N FRSH started out in Dallas. Y’vonne was the lead singer of an Electro Rock band (Wylde), while Douglas, a vinyl purist, owned a big chunk of the TX EDM scene as breakbeat DJ by the name of DJ E-Break. Their story together began in 2003 and, after a musical romance, they were married in 2007. Shortly after that they both realized they needed a change, and to be away from the Dallas nightlife scene, so they moved to a small hippy town in Colorado known as Manitou Springs, where they hoped to find themselves and reconnect with nature.

The change took them both away from electronic music for a while, while they focused on other things like yoga and spirituality. But it wasn’t long until their original passion re-ignited and they both remembered a deep love for House Music.

WLD N FRSH debuted their duo act on the main stage of Temple Nightclub – and left the whole room entranced.

Their love for the soul that lives on in House Music convinced them to move to Denver, where Douglas found an overwhelming inspiration to teach Y’vonne the finer points of spinning vinyl. It was here where she created her Y’vonne Wild project, and he started his own Le Fr3sh project – both focused on their beloved House Music.

Y’vonne got her first DJ gig in 2017 in the basement of The Church nightclub. Unfortunately, soon after Y’vonne began her journey as a DJ she was diagnosed with breast cancer, so things came to a quick – but mercifully short – halt. Y’vonne was very blessed to have caught it so early, which really was due to the fact that her mother had been diagnosed with the same Cancer, in the same breast when she was young. Her mother sadly caught it too late, and unfortunately died within 8 short months after her diagnosis.

The memory empowered Y’vonne, inspiring her to do all she could to fight it quickly, rid herself of the horrible disease, and beat it. This all started right before COVID hit, and she underwent multiple surgeries throughout the pandemic, but was also blessed with time to heal, after being laid off from work due to the pandemic. Since Y’vonne & Douglas were quarantining (like all of us), and dealing with pandemic layoffs, as she was healing from surgeries they both had time together and started putting energy into their music again.

All of this is what birthed WLD N FRSH as a duo, and changed their focus from individual projects. As soon as Y’vonne was feeling healthy enough, they began to do live streams together. As she continued to get better they continued to grow, getting small gigs here and there at first. Each booking led to bigger and bigger shows, and eventually got them booked to debut their duo act on the main stage of Temple Nightclub, last Friday. If you missed it, you missed out big time.

Y’vonne & Douglas not only pair well with each other, their skill at spinning vinyl – and spinning dreams in the heat of the dance floor – was unmatched. The whole room swooned and jumped, dove and danced, and dropped like stones to the house beats. And the rest, they shout as they drop the bass, is history.
